Pauline Ado reine du surf a domicile, la surfeuse basque s’est imposèe fca à Alizé Arnaud devant les siens en remportat à la Chambre d’Amour, la première édition du Pro Anglet (QS 1 500). Chez les hommes, le Brésilien Bino Lopes s’est approprié le trophée aux dépens, en finale, d’un autre local, Andy Crière.

Europe’s best professional surfers are set to return to the famed Southwest France beachbreaks for the inaugural Pro Anglet, a World Surf League men’s and women’s QS 1,500 from August 25-30, 2015.
« It is with great pleasure that Anglet will once again welcome professional surfing to its beaches in August this year, » Claude Olive, Mayor of Anglet stated. « La Chambre d’Amour is where surfing’s legacy started in Anglet and we’re delighted to see it in the spotlight again. »
A classic destination among professional and keen amateur surfers alike, Anglet has been host to many EPSA and ASP events in the past and will return under the WSL umbrella for the inaugural Pro Anglet this summer. Part of a six-event leg on European sand, the Pro Anglet will attract many QS surfers and be a stepping stone toward the larger events in September and October, a perfect way to get into a good rhythm and warm up before the crucial, latter half of the season.
« I’m super happy to be able to compete in Anglet again, » Pauline Ado (FRA) 24, former Championship Tour surfer stated. « I grew up and competed there since I’m about 8-9 years old but the last QS event dates back years now. I live really close and it’s where I train the most, La Chambre d’Amour is a super consistent and fun wave. »
« There’s a really positive, group-feel among the French girls at the moment and we’re a few who can potentially make the rankings top, » Ado continued. « I think competing at home will be a huge source of motivation for all of us and we’ll be looking to do well in front of our family and friends. »
With its 4.5 kilometer (about 2.8 miles) stretch of pristine, white sand beach and 11 surfing spots out of the 30 known spots on the Basque coast, Anglet is recognized as a surfing destination in its own right throughout the world. Each spot has something special to offer: The long lefts at VVF, the sought-after barreling beachbreaks of Sables d’Or and L’Océan, and the lazy surf of Marinella, a hot spot for surf schools.
« The Pro Anglet is welcomed back to the European QS series this August, » said Rob Gunning, WSL European Tour Manager. « It has a long history dating back over 10 years and we’re excited to be organizing this event with the vision to build up both the event and the side activities over the coming seasons. »
The Chambre d’Amour, official venue of the Pro Anglet, sits right beside the Saint-Martin cape below the famous Biarritz lighthouse. A large cliff protects the beach from southerly winds and offer a slightly smaller and cleaner alternative than the northern beaches of Anglet. With plenty of restaurants, bars and surf schools available, La Chambre d’Amour attracts the crowds on a hot summer day and will be the perfect arena to display professional surfing at its best.

Esplanade des Gascons à Anglet, inspiré du « Walk of Fame » de Los Angeles, « Anglet Surf Avenue » porte les empreintes de 11 personnalités du surf. Anglet rend hommage aux légendes du surf. A l’image d’Hollywood Boulevard, les plus grands surfeurs de la planète laissent leurs empreintes (de pieds) sur le ciment de la promenade de la Chambre d’Amour.
